BAR HARBOR — Darlene Trafton is the new director of health and resident services at Birch Bay Retirement Village.

Trafton, a registered nurse, has been working in health care for 30 years and is experienced in long-term care, skilled care and health care management.

A Maine native, she recently moved back to the area from Tennessee.

Trafton said that her previous experience working for MDI Hospital led her to Birch Bay Retirement Village. She missed the “strong, hardworking family values found abundantly here in Maine and is happy to be able to be part of a community that thrives on looking out for each other. [Her] love and respect for her grandparents is the driving force behind her desire to provide resources for the aging population to live a happier, healthier, purposeful life,” said a press release.
