COA Life Enrichment Internship Program

The College of the Atlantic Life Enrichment Internship Program allows students the chance to directly participate in the clinical, engagement, and program-development environments of dementia care. The COA Life Enrichment Intern is dedicated to involving residents, clients, and consumers with memory loss in any of BBRV’s targeted programs and service areas in daily programming that helps them feel valued and provides them with a sense of purpose. This includes development and implementation of life enrichment programming in group and individual settings with a focus on person-centered dementia care and creating fulfilling and purposeful engagement opportunities for our memory care residents.

Clinical experiences are complemented by a series of assignments, presentations, creative projects, and readings designed to further the student’s theoretical and practical application of knowledge. Opportunities to develop individualized and person-centered programming through collaboration and coordination with employees, families, residents, and leaders provide a well-rounded platform for setting personal and professional development goals while also focusing on emerging professional skills and competencies.

Applicants must be seeking a degree or certificate in healthcare, therapy, social work, human ecology and horticulture, or a related field. Applicants must be in good standing at the College of the Atlantic and possess strong interpersonal skills, independence, initiative, and empathy. A valid US driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

The 2024 Spring and Summer Internship opportunities will be posted later this year along with application deadlines. No housing or stipend options are available. Lunches are provided at no cost.
